Bible 365 Devotional

BY FAITH

HEBREWS 11:6

HEBREWS 11:6 NKJ
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

This is such an awesome chapter.  This is a chapter I could write a devotional on almost every verse.

This is the chapter I was reading when I was inspired to call the church The Ark.  Noah prepared an Ark for the saving of his household.  I just love this chapter.

The writer of Hebrews is pointing out to the Jewish believers that their forefathers accomplished some pretty big things through their faith in God.

In our verse for today, we see a bold statement.  It is impossible to please God without faith.  We don't see the word impossible used too often as it relates to God.  However, this verse is quite clear.

First, we must believe that He is real. He exists.  We believe this without God having to prove Himself to us.  We believe without having to understand the logic of His existence.  We simply choose to believe He is and He is the Creator of our universe.  And He is the Creator of mankind.

Second, we must believe that He is a rewarder of anyone who will seek Him.  Anyone who will spend time, energy, and resources to know and please Him.  To connect with Him.  We believe if we reach out to Him, He will reach back to us and not ignore us.  That if we come near to Him, He will come near to us.  This is how we can please God, by this faith.

APPLICATION

Our Christian life is about our faith, not our works.  In other words, we don't earn our salvation and God's blessings.  We believe Jesus provided that for us, and we respond accordingly.

The bible is full of people who made that connection to God by faith.   And thankfully, that same opportunity is available to us today.  We are His people, and we live by our faith in Him.

PRAYER

Thank You, Father, for Your word that gives me faith and Your Spirit that whispers to my heart.  By faith, I can do all that You have promised.  I can fulfill Your plan for my life.
