THERE IS ALWAYS MORE WITH GOD

MATTHEW 28:16-20

MATTHEW 28:16-20 NKJ
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

OBSERVATION:

Jesus has been raised from the dead and has appeared to His disciples. It is interesting that some doubted, looking at you, Thomas, but most worshipped.

These are Jesus' last instructions before He ascended back into heaven. Jesus had already told His disciples that He was not staying. Of course, they were dismayed at this thought, but He calmed them with the promise of the Father, the Holy Spirit would be their helper.

Now Jesus is giving the disciples what is commonly referred to as the Great Commission. This was to be their assignment for the future. This was the reason they were called to be with Jesus during His time on earth. They were called to know Jesus but not stop there. The bigger picture was to make Him known.

This bigger picture is a theme that is throughout our connection with God and His plan for our lives. There is always more with God. His plans, blessings, wisdom, strength, joy, and help is never intended to stop with us. The more with God is taking what He gives us and using that to bless others. God is love, and His kingdom is a love kingdom. Love being the willing to do what is best for others to benefit them. Love has a give to it. For God so loved He gave.

God's kingdom does not operate on selfishness and fear. That is how man's kingdoms work. Whatever good that comes our way will certainly help us, but it does not end with us.

APPLICATION:

The Great Commission is still in effect today. This is why we support world missions every month as a church. This is why we use media to reach out. This is why we do outreach events. God has blessed us so we can bless others.

And on a personal level, the Great Commission applies to each of us. We are to go into all our world as a representative of the Lord Jesus. We can't all preach, but we can all proclaim with our lives what God has done.

This is one of the cures for boredom. There's always more with God.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord I know there is always more with You. show me how to tap into a bigger purpose for my life. I want to represent You well.
