Stronger Than Darkness

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:4-5 NKJV

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 1:4-5 NKJV 4

In Jesus was life and His life was light, the opposite of darkness. In fact, the darkness did not comprehend the light. A better word for comprehend is overpower.
The life and light in Jesus were stronger than the darkness in the world. Light is greater than darkness. When you cut the light on, the darkness must back away.

The great news for us is that the life and light of Jesus are in us when we make Him our Lord. His life and light were imparted to our spirits.
The apostle Paul refers to us as “light in the Lord” and tells us that we are no longer in the dark. (Ephesians 5:8)

APPLICATION:

A big part of application is action. How do we act on this truth?

One of the best ways to act is with our words. We’ve not commonly linked words with actions, but that is how we received salvation. We believed in our heart and confessed (or spoke) Jesus is our Lord. (Romans 10:8-10)

So, to act on this passage in our reading today, we can say these truths. Because I have received Jesus as my Lord, in me is His life and light, and no darkness can overpower me. Fear, depression, oppression, sickness, and sin are all works of darkness, but I am a child of light. Thank You, Lord, for Your life and light in me.
