SEEING THINGS DIFFERENTLY

PROVERBS 6:20-23

 PROVERBS 6:20-23 NKJ
20 My son, keep your father’s command,
And do not forsake the law of your mother.
21 Bind them continually upon your heart;
Tie them around your neck.
22 When you roam, they will lead you;
When you sleep, they will keep you;
And when you awake, they will speak with you.
23 For the commandment is a lamp,
And the law a light;
Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,

When we began to give God's word an important role in our lives, it has the ability to change our perspective.

Here, the author of the proverbs is talking about binding God's word on your heart.  As you do this, God's word will guide you, protect you and speak to you.  Because God's word is a lamp and a light and instructs and corrects.

That's a significant number of benefits from God's word.  The more we see His word as a powerful force in our lives, the more we humbly receive it.  God's word changes how we see things, how we think.  God's word is that strong.  It's a lamp and a light that exposes the darkness and enables us to see a clear picture of God's plans and intentions.  His word is the key to seeing things differently.

APPLICATION

It does not happen all at once, but as you put God's word in your heart and life, your perspective will change for the better.  You'll take on a more spiritual point of view and notice that things you used to think were necessary are not.  And things you gave no importance to are now vital.  God's word in your heart forms the framework for a strong life.

PRAYER

Help me see in a greater way the value of Your Word, oh God.  Help me adopt Your ways and thoughts because they are higher, better, stronger.
