PLOWING IN WINTER
PROVERBS 20:4
PROVERBS 20:4 NKJ The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.
I really do enjoy the proverbs. They are filled with such God-given practical insight. Little nuggets of truth.
Here is a nugget that does not candy coat the effects of laziness. The man who is lazy will not plow in winter. Whatever his excuse, to cold, ground too hard, don't feel like it. Whatever the reason, he simply will not do what needs to be done. The end result is no harvest, and he is forced to beg for help.
It did not have to be this way, but the lazy man is unwilling to do the hard thing, so his life becomes hard in the end.
APPLICATION
There have been times in my life where I have given into laziness. I did not plow in winter, so to speak. Did not do what was uncomfortable and it did not produce a good harvest, a good end result.
Now before all you diligent hard workers judge me, please understand that I am also referring to spiritual things. Obeying the scriptures to walk in love or forgive or tell my flesh no is not always easy. It can be likened to plowing in winter. Uncomfortable. But if we will do what is uncomfortable in the short term, the long-term results will be rewarding.
QUESTION
What have you excused away in your life? What's your "plowing in winter"?
PRAYER
Strengthen me Lord, to overcome any area of laziness in my life. I desire a good harvest.
