OUR FOUNDATION - A QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION

PSALM 11:3 NKJV

3 If the foundations are destroyed,

What can the righteous do?

PROVERBS 10:25 NKJV

25 When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more,

But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.

I am going to take a devotionalistic liberty and use verses from two separate chapters in today’s reading. And yes, I did make up the word devotionalistic.

Psalms 11:3 asks an important question. If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? This question seems to be extremely pertinent in our American culture today.

Many of the foundations that we have relied upon for years are being destroyed. God, duty, and country no longer is a relevant slogan for America. Everything from our respect for God to a basic understanding of family, marriage, and even gender has been challenged and is quickly crumbling.

I wish I could say that this is a temporary phase for our country and that things will return to their rightful order. But I do not believe that to be the case. The scriptures speak of what will happen in the last days. Paul’s last letter was written to Timothy, and he describes what will take place in 2 Timothy chapter 3. We are living in those days right now. So as optimistic as I would like to be, I do not see our society as a whole becoming more enlightened.

The foundations are being destroyed. So what can the righteous do?

Proverbs 10:25 gives an answer for the righteous. The whirlwind is passing, but the righteous, those who have put their faith and hope in God, have an everlasting foundation. These tumultuous times will continue to impact those who sit in darkness, but the righteous will stand. We know whom we believe and trust that He can preserve us until the end.

I believe these are the days when the righteous need to pray. We need to reach as many as we can who sit in darkness. No, we do not condone their ungodly ways, but railing against them is not the answer. Living solid lives that glorify God is one of the best ways we can shine a light into this dark world.

We can live strong as a people who have a foundation in God as the foundations of the world continue to crumble.

PRAYER:

Lord, help me live as one who has their strength and foundation in You. Help me to become a light to those who sit in the dark on a shaky foundation with eternity looming.
