ONE OF MY TOP FIVE

PSALM 34:1-10

PSALM 34:1-10 NKJ
1 I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.
4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
5 They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces were not ashamed.
6 This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,
And saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him,
And delivers them.
8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
9 Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints!
There is no want to those who fear Him.
10 The young lions lack and suffer hunger;
But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.

OBSERVATION:

All of us typically have a list of favorites. Top five albums. All of mine are from the 70s. Top five movies. Top five places we have visited.

This Psalm 34 is definitely a top-five psalm for me. I have memorized the entire psalm. Sometimes if I wake up in the night with way too many things on my mind, I will shift my attention to this psalm. It helps me get my mind back in the right place. Psalm 23 is another psalm that helps me re-focus, and it is another in my top five.

There is so much in this psalm. Such wisdom and insight into a strong life with God. Praising the Lord at all times. His praise being in my mouth on a continual basis. Full disclosure, this is something I am still working on. It is a great goal to shoot for.

Boasting in the Lord and magnifying the Lord. David had a strong relationship with God, and I believe his expressions to and about God played a huge role.

As we seek God, He hears us. That's big. But it does not stop there. He hears and delivers us from all our fears. We can take our fear to Him, and He will not belittle us for being afraid. He will help us and set us free from all our fears. Praise God for that!

This psalm goes on to talk about the benefits of being connected to our God.

When we look to Him for His help and wisdom, we will not be ashamed.

When we cry out to Him, He hears and saves us from all the things troubling us.

His angels are around and protect those who have respect and reverence for Him.

And then one of my favorite verses. Taste and see that the Lord is good and puts His blessings on those who trust in Him.

But wait, there's more. As we respect God and live our lives with Him. As we seek Him and seek to please Him, we will not lack any good thing. Wow! And Wow again!

You can see why this is a top-five psalm of mine. What's in your top five?
