A SHORT BUT SWEET PSALM OF PRAISE

PSALM 100:1-5

PSALM 100:1-5 NKJ
1 Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
2 Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
3 Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
5 For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.

OBSERVATION:

This is a great psalm.

This psalm starts on the glad side and stays there.

A joyful shout to the Lord. Serve the Lord with gladness. Come before His presence with singing. There is nothing sad or gloomy about these instructions. But when we stop and think about it, none of us believe heaven will be a gloomy place. We believe heaven is full of joy and gladness. So, it is commendable if we are full of joy and gladness down here where things are tougher.

Know that the Lord He is God. He made us, and we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. This is another good thought. We have a God who made us. He is our Creator, and we are His people. He takes care of us. We belong to Him.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. It appears that we need the proper attire to come into His courts. Praise and thanksgiving will do just fine.

And we give Him thanks because He is good. He never runs out of mercy. And His truth never becomes obsolete or loses its strength.

APPLICATION:

The gist of this psalm is that we have many reasons to praise God and be thankful to Him.

From our creation to the mercy and truth He provides, we are a blessed people.

I believe heaven will be a joyful place that is full of thankful people serving God. So, let's start now. Then maybe we can skip the Joyful and Thankful 101 class when we get there.

PRAYER:

Thank You, Father, for You are good, and Your mercy and truth endure forever. I will continue to praise and thank you though out all eternity!
